THE OPPORTUNITY – RESEARCH ASSISTANT – (CANADA SUMMER JOB)

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide research support and assist with various tasks throughout the research process such as data collection, entry, analysis, and draft reports.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, booking rooms, taking minutes, managing files and databases, and handling printing and photocopying.
  • Review documents and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure research findings are shared through appropriate channels and formats for intended audiences.
  • Observe acceptable standards for ethical and valid research practices.

WHAT YOU BRING

We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences, and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:

  • Currently studying in a post-secondary program in Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Some experience in qualitative/quantitative methods, participatory action research, policy and evaluation research.
  • Awareness of disability issues and community resources.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, public speaking, and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines effectively and reliably.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members.
  • Represent Vecova in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation.
