The research assistant will report directly to Dr. Adela Kincaid, Assistant Professor (International Indigenous Studies). The workload will vary by average 15-28 hours per week. Work schedule is flexible.
Assist with research around education on animal conservation and rehabilitation in partnership with Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC). The majority of the work will be online with some time spent at AIWC.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Put together and share information through social media about research completed for AIWC this spring and summer.
- Continue work that the research team started this past spring and summer in partnership with AIWC as well as work with the current research team.
- Edit blogs, reports, and other documents for AIWC.
- Conduct research and create educational material for AIWC.
- Make connections to the Office of Sustainability at the University of Calgary and share AIWC research results through various formats (oral presentations, online presentations, social media, guest lectures to classes etc.).
- Connect with related Offices at the University to share results (Taylor Institute, Office of Sustainability).
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Can be recent graduates (within 2 years from graduation date).
- Research assistants must be familiar with the AIWC and have collaborated with them for a minimum of 4 months. Previous experience with AIWC is an asset.
- Research assistants should have strong computer and social media skills, including knowledge of applied research methods used by the AIWC specific to this project.
- Research assistant must have completed a B.A. in an area that will complement working with AIWC.
- Familiar with INDG 415 or INDG 507 communitybased research approaches.
- Research assistants should be selfmotivated and well organized.
- Familiar with Mitacs funding policies and expectations and with AIWC policies.
- Have access to high speed internet to complete online tasks, work from AIWC half of the time and attend regular meetings with Dr. Adela Kincaid (online or at the University of Calgary).
