Job Description:
We're on the lookout for an Outreach Worker dedicated to providing crucial services to high-risk children and youth vulnerable to or already impacted by sexual exploitation. The role entails engaging in direct street outreach, investigating, and monitoring high-risk individuals while fostering strong partnerships with organizations like Winnipeg Police, social workers, and family members. A deep understanding of the challenges faced by Sexually Exploited Children and Youth (SECY) is essential.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Diploma/certificate in Child and Youth Care or related field with at least two years of frontline experience, particularly in outreach services.
- Experience with high-risk demographics and familiarity with The Child and Family Services Act.
- Thorough knowledge of child sexual exploitation, addiction issues, and other relevant social, health, and justice matters, along with understanding of related legal provisions.
- Familiarity with challenges encountered by Indigenous youth and specialized community programs in Winnipeg.
- Capability to establish strong relationships with community agencies, law enforcement, and child welfare organizations.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to deliver quality work under pressure, and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Effective verbal communication to advocate for children with service providers.
- Proficient in written communication for report maintenance.
- Sharp assessment, observational, and leadership skills for effective problem-solving.
- Physically fit for active scenarios and flexible to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver's license with a clean record, along with necessary certifications like First Aid/CPR.
- Successful candidates will undergo background checks and screening processes.
Desired:
- Familiarity with high-risk areas where children/youth are vulnerable to exploitation.
- Training in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
