About the role


Join the Business Services Team, where you will support the daily operations of CMHC's Housing Knowledge Centre, Canada's largest housing research library.

Your skills and passion for managing, acquiring, cataloguing, and organizing all types of information resources within the Housing Knowledge Centre as well as assisting and guiding clients in finding or using information in a digital and/or print format will ensure the smooth operations of our library.


What you'll do:

  • Manage all electronic subscriptions to databases and ejournals, which includes purchasing, ordering, and online access management, as well as verify invoices and statements issued to the Housing Knowledge Centre and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Manage the circulation operations, including implementing and enforcing circulation policies, responding to client requests for items and overseeing the checking in and out of materials.
  • Catalogue electronic and print resources, ensuring materials are properly catalogued and added to the integrated library system.
  • Support business lines with the Housing Knowledge Centre's services and resources.
  • Acquire online and print resources, selecting the most costeffective and efficient method, emphasizing online resources when available, and create and modify order records, process receipts, claims, invoices, and executes all financial procedures related to ordering and paying for items.
  • Manage operations related to the closedstacks historical collection of print material, including shelving, and pulling items for clients to consult and borrow.

What you should have:

  • A graduation from a recognized postsecondary institution with a diploma or degree in library and information technologies
  • A minimum of one year of prior experience in a similar role.
  • A knowledge and understanding of library methodologies and tools.
  • A demonstrated knowledge and experience in the technologies used to manage and catalogue the Housing Knowledge Centre materials.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong reference, cataloguing and research skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).

It would be great if you also had:

  • A solid understanding of CMHC and its organization structure.
  • An experience working in a Library or similar organization.
