Duties

The Canadian Agriculture Library (CAL) at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is looking for an indeterminate Team Lead, Information and Research Services.

The Team Lead of Information and Research Services will work closely with both the Team Lead of Digital Experience and Collections and the Library Manager to support the various units within the library, including:

  • Information and Research Services
  • eResources and Procurement Management
  • Collection Management and Access
  • Digital Experience and Communications

As the Team Lead, you will:

  • Lead a team of full-time employees to plan and deliver information and research services.
  • Manage library services, activities, projects, including human resources and financial management.
  • Monitor trends, provide strategic advice to the Library Manager.
  • Lead and participate in meetings, committees, related to library functions and broader Government of Canada initiatives.
  • Represent AAFC, lead inter-departmental working groups, partnerships, committees, share information.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate team building skills, collaborative way of working, networker with awareness of evolving trends, desire to lead the Library's Information and Research team.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master's degree in library science or in library and information science OR Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor's degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor's degree was a prerequisite.

If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your certificates and/or diplomas assessed against Canadian education standards.

Experience leading the development and provision of information and research services in a library environment.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Graduation with a bachelor's or master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a scientific discipline related to the position.

Experience providing library services in a science environment.
Experience participating in Open Access OR Open Education OR Open Science OR Open Government initiatives.

Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

Knowledge of trends and developments in the provision of library information and research services.
Knowledge of change management techniques to lead a team through change.
