The Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS) at Western University is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about media, communications, and information.
We study technologies, systems, histories, and practices to understand the role of media and information in democratic process and the social and cultural determinants of power and agency.

Responsibilities:
Please note that this position is expected to be filled internally by the reappointment of a previous project staff member.
The Research Assistant is an integral part of the Research Team and will liaise with all research project team members with an emphasis on knowledge translation, website content updating, and preparation of information from partners, students, and co-applicants for the SSHRC Partnership Grant Midterm Report due in fall 2024.
Working collaboratively, the incumbent will support the development of future projects, help evaluate current projects, and focus on knowledge tranlation for website and SSHRC PG Midterm Report.
The Research Assistant will liaise with all researcher and partners to obtain comprehensive information about all research activities for website update, blog entries, and SSHRC midterm report.
The incumbent will work with web designer to develop summary content about research activities and team bios in English and Spanish.
The incumbent will write blog posts summarizing diverse research activities in English and Spanish.The Research Assistant will assist with first draft of SSHRC Midterm Report (due fall 2024) and collaborate with the Project Director and Project Coordinator where needed.
- Qualifications
Education: - Undergraduate degree in a relevant area of focus; Masters degree preferred (Arts and Humanities and/or Social Sciences)
Experience:
- 1 year of work experience supporting research in a related technical field; more research experience with an emphasis on knowledge translation skills preferred
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Experience with website content development
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written and oral) in both English and Spanish
- Knowledge of the history of El Salvador with a particular focus on the civil war period
- Proven ability to multitask and prioritize with an eye to consistently producing highquality work and meeting deadlines in a demanding environment
