Responsibilities:
The Research Assistant will support the research activities within one or more of the following transportation and traffic areas with focus a on disruptive technologies including on-demand public transit, connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles, electrical buses, and shared mobility.
- The Research Assistant will:
- Conduct research literature reviews on the smart cities and emerging mobility infrastructures
- Conduct case study research including data analysis, technical program summaries, and strategy design
- Assist in technical report and manuscript editing and formatting, conference papers and technical reports
- Qualifications
Education: - Undergraduate degree in Engineering
Experience:
- Experience working in the Engineering field preferreably in transportation, civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, software, computer science, mathematics or related discipline.
(1) course learning or project experience in transportation and traffic areas.
(2) temporal-spatial data analysis
(3) backend development with data feeds
(4) mathematical modeling for optimization problems
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
- Personable and courteous in working relationships with colleagues, students and the public
- Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research
- Familiarity with methods for research design, implementation, and analysis
- Familiarity with experimental design and analysis
- Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
- Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document technical information
