You have:

  • At least five years' progressive experience with economic analysis and economic modelling, including sound knowledge of trends, issues, information management, data modelling, research issues and related legislation, acts, statutes, regulations and policies
  • Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Economics, Public Policy, Statistics or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of the Assessment Act, Municipal Act, 2001, City of Toronto Act, 2006, O. Reg. 282/98 and other related legislation and regulations
  • Good understanding of appraisal techniques, including the three established methods for valuing property and ability to critically analyze valuation issues
  • Knowledge of change management principles and best practices to allow for business reengineering, process improvement and the quick introduction of new strategies and services
  • Excellent oral, written and strong presentation skills displaying comfort and confidence in speaking to large groups of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strategic and analytical ability to identify gaps and develop effective and lasting solutions
  • Proven leadership skills used to build effective teams and influence stakeholders

What you will do:

  • Support development of insights and mitigation strategies performing quantitative analysis for legislative, regulatory or policy changes
  • Provide interjurisdictional and evidencebased analysis to MPAC regarding legislative/regulatory or policy changes
  • Determine analytical approaches and data requirements through the development of work plans
  • Establish project expectations; coach colleagues/team members on approaches and monitors their progress; monitors for delivery and quality of product
  • Liaise with the Ministry of Finance and other government bodies to exchange data and information to support legislative/regulatory and policy changes
  • Engage government and other external stakeholders on issues of importance to MPAC through a strong strategic plan to advance department and corporate initiatives
  • Support assessment legislation and internal policy related projects by assigning, planning and researching issues, assembling project team members and preparing business cases
  • Build a rapport with internal/external industry experts to proactively assess trends and developments relating to tax policy initiatives
  • Promote a teambased and customeroriented approach to service delivery
