Job Profile:


Under direction of the Labour Relations Manager, the Delinquency Coordinator will be responsible for taking a proactive approach to preventing and resolving delinquent accounts by guiding Local 793's contractors in their repayment and delinquency resolution efforts.


Job Responsibilities / Duties:

Motivate, counsel, and provide preventative solutions to enable signatory contractors to bring their accounts into good-standing and proactively avoid delinquency, by:

  • Educating and assisting contractors with delinquency management strategies by identifying needs and recommending customized best-fit solutions for repayment;
  • Assisting signatory contractors in their adoption of the QuickRemit system as a proactive tool to prevent delinquency from occurring;
  • Conducting proactive audits, either remote or onsite, of all signatory contractors to identify and appropriately respond to earlystage delinquent accounts.
Assisting in the coordination of Local 793's debt collection initiatives, by:

  • Ensuring contractors are compliant and respecting collective agreements terms relating to remittance payments;
  • Identifying possible noncompliant contractors through regular collaboration with Area Supervisors, Business Representatives, and the Labour Relations Department;
  • Conducting targeted investigations into flagged issues of noncompliance in order to pursue timely resolution and collection of monies owed;
  • Collaborating with the Labour Relations Department on filing grievances in situations of failure to resolve delinquent accounts or refusal to repay.
Performing other related duties as required in support of the overarching delinquency efforts of Local 793, including:

  • Establishing clear processes surrounding delinquency prevention and response actions;
  • Reviewing, rewording and strengthening of Collective Agreement language in coordination with the Labour Relation Manager's initiatives;
  • Ensuring rate tables and calculations within collective agreements are accurate;
  • Recommending to the Labour Relations Manager possible improvements to collective agreement language to better position the Local to proactively address delinquency issues;
  • Performing in depth analysis on an ongoing basis to define and track industry delinquency trends and recommend strategies to address root causes;
  • Generating _Risk Monitoring Reports_ to keep the Labour Relations Manager appraised of contractors at risk of becoming delinquent and/or at risk of permanent repayment failure;
  • Constantly promoting opportunities to create automation and optimize process improvements and efficiency gains;
  • Crosstraining with the Labour Relations Coordinator to assist the Labour Relations Department at the direction of the Labour Relations Manager when needed.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Labour Relations Manager and/or Human Resources Department.

Job Requirements:

  • A Post-Secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Math, or similar;
  • Experience performing financial calculations and investigating delinquent accounts;
  • Experience with audits and auditing principles;
  • Strong mathematical acumen and attention to detail;
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of trade unions is considered a strong asset;
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of the construction industry (specifically crane and heavy equipment operation) is considered a strong asset;
  • Minimum of 35 years' experience within a comparable senior delinquency role preferred;
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of collection principles, legislation, and processes surrounding delinquency;
  • A thorough understanding of the collective bargaining process as well as a proven ability to understand and interpret collective agreements;
  • Advanced written and oral communications skills;
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability;
  • Exemplary time management;
  • A proven ability to successfully operate in a fastpaced, highvolume environment;
  • Strong computer proficiency with proven ability to create and maintain highlevel spreadsheets in Excel and utilize various financial software and databases;
  • Copes successfully with on the job demands and maintains personal composure in stressful situations.
