JOB SUMMARY

The Decommissioning Engineer is an essential member of the Douglas Point Decommissioning Projects team, playing a crucial role in overseeing the decommissioning activities at the Douglas Point Waste Facility. Responsibilities include reviewing project scopes, drawings, work control packages, supervising staff and contractors, and offering technical expertise during field work implementation.

What Will You Be Doing

General Accountabilities:

  • Provide technical support for design, work package preparation, and field work related to decommissioning the facility.
  • Review drawings and documentation promptly throughout the project phases.
  • Conduct engineering surveillance of contractor activities at various locations.
  • Support contractor personnel accessing the site.
  • Oversee contractors to ensure safe completion of field work.
  • Address queries regarding logistics, compliance programs, and procedures.
  • Offer technical assistance to the Project Manager and team members.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation.
  • Assist in project scheduling, budgeting, and work package development.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Ensure timely and within budget project deliverables.
  • Travel to external sites for necessary meetings and activities.
  • Be available for off-hours work as needed.

What We Are Looking For

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a reputable university.
  • Membership in an engineering professional organization is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience in the nuclear industry, particularly in waste management and decommissioning.
  • Familiarity with engineering codes, radiation protection principles, and CNL's Compliance programs.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency in various software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team efficiently.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime when needed.
