Cad Railway Industries Ltd was established back in 1968, with its main office located in Montreal. We are proud to be the leading provider of comprehensive solutions in the freight, passenger, and commuter rail sectors across North America, including Canada, the United States, and beyond.

In addition to our headquarters, Cad Railway has facilities in Calgary and Lethbridge, operating under the Caltrax brand. Recently, we were chosen by the ONxpress Transportation Partners association to manage all legacy fleet maintenance services for the Metrolinx rail fleet, which consists of around 1000 bi-level coaches and 90 locomotives. The delivery team from Cad Railway will oversee the rail maintenance facilities in Etobicoke and Whitby.

Summary:

The RAMS & System Engineer Specialist role involves conducting technical analysis and systems engineering tasks to ensure compliance with the Metrolinx Legacy Fleet Maintenance and Operations Contract. Reporting to the Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with the management team to support System Engineering and RAMS processes effectively, translating business priorities into actionable strategies and working closely with various departments.

Core Accountabilities:
  • Ensure timely completion of all deliverables, including addressing customer feedback and concerns
  • Provide practical recommendations based on RAMS data for continuous improvements
  • Monitor and meet Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to RAMS and fleet performance
  • Conduct technical analysis on fleet operations and recommend enhancement strategies
  • Identify risks and opportunities, suggest solutions, and escalate critical issues
  • Support Root Cause Analysis and Problem-Solving using RCM methodologies
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies at all times
  • Collaborate with unionized maintenance staff and promote a positive work environment
  • Lead cross-functional process improvement projects and business-wide initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Engineering Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a RAMS/System/Vehicle Engineer
  • 2 to 3 years of applying RAMS methods and analysis
  • Proficient in configuration management
  • Demonstrated project management skills and accountability for results
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office suite, particularly Excel
Nice to have:
  • Prior involvement in heavy industries or internal combustion heavy machinery
  • Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Experience in Electrical and Networking
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada methods for railway systems safety assurance
  • Background in a unionized work environment
