DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Regional Manager is responsible for the direct oversight and leadership of the Cancer Prevention and Screening team and the Indigenous Cancer portfolio.

The manager will support strategies in building and sustaining strong relationships with First Nation, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous (FNIMUI) partners and provide leadership to the implementation of the Central East Regional Indigenous Cancer Plan and Cancer Care Ontario's First Nation, Inuit, Metis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy in the Central East region.

The manager will provide innovative leadership for breast, colorectal, cervical and lung screening activities, and the coordination of smoking cessation services within the Central East region.

In addition, this role will provide visionary leadership and innovative thinking to advance the mandate of the Central East Regional Cancer Program, inform a primary care strategy of engagement and truly redesign how system partners can impact the local health and social system.


As an integral member of the cancer program leadership team, the incumbent will be responsible for the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of quality and performance metrics and associated performance improvement initiatives and will leverage their knowledge and skill in population health, primary care collaborative models and system redesign to advance collaboration and integration throughout the region.

A key expectation of the position is to liaise with Regional Oncology Clinical Leads, system partners, OH, and the Ministry of Health and to contribute to engagement and collaboration across the region with a focus on access and quality.

The role is responsible for working to achieve the goals of the CE Regional Cancer Program Strategic Plan and the CE Regional Indigenous Cancer Plan in alignment with provincial recommendations and the OH-CCO Cancer Plan 6 and First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy.

The Regional Manager will work with community and hospital partners including integrated community health services centres (ICHSCs), Community Health Centres (CHCs), Ontario Breast Screening Sites (OBSP), OH-CCO, Primary Care Providers, and regional OHT partners to drive positive improvements and innovative approaches in meeting quality, access and performance metrics.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Health/Business Administration or a health related discipline;
  • 45 years of project management experience and leading projects within the healthcare system (preferably oncology), including health system integration projects; and managing project and operation budgets;
  • Strong understanding of system integration, population health and health equity with indepth knowledge of local and regional health care systems.
  • Previous experience in a cancer screening program an asset;
  • Extensive experience in leading stakeholder engagement across a range of sectors in health and social services, and building strong strategic and productive relationships;
  • Knowledge of the funding models for hospitals, Regional Cancer Programs and Primary Care in Ontario;
  • Knowledge of the concepts of culturally safe care and how this is supported in a health care environment;
  • Knowledge of the health care environment, the cancer system and the cancer journey as it relates to FNIMUI people;
  • Ability to assess regional needs, formulate plans to address needs and to implement and evaluate initiatives;
  • Working knowledge of the Durham Region, and the Central East region and the relevant stakeholders involved in cancer prevention and cancer screening programs;
  • Demonstrates experience in project management, ability to plan, implement and evaluate projects specifically related to program development;
  • Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills and strong ability to synthesize complex information and data
