The Western Group of Companies is looking for a HR Coordinator to join our team.

The Western Group of Companies is a diverse group of locally-owned companies in the automotive, construction, and recreation industries.

The Human Resources Coordinator works with the management team to plan, organize, and implement the human resource operations for the Group.


Key areas of responsibility include policy and procedure development; human resource planning; employee relations; training and development; recruitment and selection; and the analysis and improvement of HR metrics/KPIs.

Remain current with all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee and strategically plan for the organization's human resource operations and capital needs in consultation with other managers.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of HR policies and procedures; provide interpretation as necessary; make suggestions and recommendations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with employees and the management team.
  • Maintain employee database and files promptly and accurately.
  • Advise and assist departmental managers on the interpretation and administration of policies, programs, and best practices.
  • Recruit, interview, and screen new hires in partnership with the hiring manager.
  • Inform employees about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, and opportunities for promotion.
  • Advise managers on organizational matters such as discrimination, discipline, harassment, etc.
  • Develop and plan employee engagement initiatives.
  • Remain current with best practices, legislative changes, and industry standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Human Resources or a similar role.
  • Postsecondary education or related experience.
  • Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Strong sense of initiative and a positive attitude towards people and work.
  • Ability to work well independently and with a team.
