Position Summary:

Our Pickering Terminal is currently seeking a City Dispatcher to join the team

The City Dispatcher with Speedy supervises and coordinates employees engaged in the local delivery and pick-up operations.

Plans, schedules, coordinates methods and procedures for the most efficient and economical routing and movement of customer's freight in an error free manner.

Assigns and schedules drivers for freight pick-up as well as negotiates pick-up times with customers. Maintains regular communications with drivers to ensure optimum efficiency and customer relations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer calls quickly and efficiently
  • Dispatch drivers
  • Assist drivers with concerns and questions
  • Monitoring and communicating special customer needs
  • Work closely with operations to ensure smooth, efficient flow of freight

Position Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage others
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a time sensitive environment
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to listen and provide effective and timely feedback
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and courteously with other staff
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively
  • Ability to work in a high volume environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to operate a personal computer
  • Ability to rapidly learn and perform tasks related to the department or units regulations, policies, rules, functions, procedures, or processes
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
