Nuclear Fuel HVAC Technician at BWX Technologies

We have an exciting opportunity for an HVAC Technician (Nuclear industry) in Peterborough, Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Install, inspect, and maintain HVAC systems following relevant standards and regulations.
  • Diagnose and fix malfunctions in heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to extend equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct facilities maintenance tasks like plumbing and carpentry.
  • Assist fuel technicians if needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams for system upgrades and new installations.
  • Use technical manuals and blueprints to troubleshoot HVAC issues.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  • Provide guidance to junior technicians.

DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES

  • Past experience in training delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions within job boundaries.
  • Willingness to work shifts and weekends when required.
  • Awareness of safety issues and ability to take corrective action.
  • Focus on quality output and contribute to team success.
  • Participate in learning activities and apply gained knowledge.
  • Understand technical terminology and manage work priorities effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid HVAC technician license.
  • High school diploma; completion of an HVAC program preferred.
  • Proven experience as a licensed HVAC Technician.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Experience with low pressure, gas-fired boiler systems.
  • Knowledgeable in Industrial Plumbing maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to work in industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Desired:

Previous HVAC experience and experience in the Nuclear industry.
