The Impact You'll Make

  • Ensure compliance with US jurisdictional payroll laws for the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as best practices
  • Liaise between 3rd party local/provincial payroll consultants
  • Help to ensure optimal functionality with existing and future payroll and related systems
  • Resolve all payroll discrepancies and irregularities proactively
  • Support the stock plan administration function in the timely withholding/reporting of all equity and other non-cash employee compensation (ESPP, RSUs, NSO and ISO stock options, etc.)
Location:

This position is based at our headquarters in Toronto, Canada. You can expect to be on-site 50% of the time. Relocation is available for candidates not local to the area.

The Team You'll Join

As the Global Payroll Manager, you will be an essential member of the Finance Team reporting directly to the Sr Global Payroll Manager. The Finance team is a fun, tightly-knit group. You will leverage the depth and breadth of your payroll knowledge to help increase the sophistication of our existing payroll function during a time of complexity and growth, post IPO. You will also rely on your interpersonal skills to effectively work cross-functionally across the organization. In your role, you will work closely with the Stock Plan Administrator as well as members of the Finance team to ensure all current and future reporting needs are met. You will need self-initiative, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to transparently communicate with a high degree of professionalism.

The Experience You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field, or equivalent years of experience: professional certificate (e.g. CPP, CPM)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in global payroll within a public company or similar environment
  • Previous experience processing Canadian, and United Kingdom, in addition to US payroll
  • Proficient knowledge of core, end-to-end payroll processes procedures including SOX controls
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state labor laws and relocation gross-ups
  • Experience with equity and other non-cash employee compensation (ESPP, RSUs, NSO and ISO stock options, etc.) in the US, Canada, and the United Kingdom
  • Experience with robust payroll systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now or similar
How You'll be Supported
  • Sr. Payroll Manager will provide support in training process during first 90 days to ensure quick ramp up
  • Ability to attend training courses to learn new skills/technologies
  • Ability to work with outside consultants on best practices and complex questions
At Recursion, we believe that every employee should be compensated fairly. Based on the skill and level of experience required for this role, the estimated current annual base range for this role is:
  • Developing: $81,000 CAD
  • Skilled: $90,000 CAD
  • Expert: $99,000 CAD

You will also be eligible for bonuses and equity compensation + our comprehensive benefits package for United States based candidates. The range displayed on each job posting reflects target ranges for US new hire salaries and is determined by job, level, and market factors.
