Summer Social Worker

3 Temporary Positions (1 each for East, West and North)

Contract duration:
July 2-July 29, 2024

2 days a week (8:30am - 2:30pm)

These temporary positions are only open to internal permanent and LTO applicants.

Provide social work services to summer school students and other HDSB students.

Offer problem-solving and consultation services around student needs to develop supportive strategies to enhance student success

Provide support and service rooted in, cultural responsiveness, anti-colonial approaches, anti-racism, and anti-oppressive practices

Help students, families and schools in relation to mental health, emotional, social and behavioral concerns

Referrals to community agencies as needed

Service Delivery Model

HDSB Social Work Services will be provided in person or videoconferencing to students. Internal staff meetings will also be connected similarly.

Structure of Summer Social Work

Summer Social Workers will be expected to work for 4 weeks for 2 days each week.

Responsibilities of HDSB Summer Social Workers:
Provide comprehensive, culturally responsive and inclusive brief evidence-informed interventions and crisis support to students and families

Utilize knowledge of local and regional community resources to make referrals

Maintain HDSB Social Work Standards for record keeping and service delivery

Provide service in accordance with the Ontario College of Social Work Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics

Qualifications:

The minimum education required for this position is a Master of Social Work Degree. Applicants must have a current licence with the Ontario College of Social Workers.

The Halton Region has been growing fast and growth is projected to remain strong for the foreseeable future.
