The Role:
Blyth Academy Burlington is on the lookout for a dedicated Social Science educator who is passionate about engaging students and delivering outstanding experiential learning aligned with the Ontario curriculum. Collaborating with a committed administrative team, our educators have the chance to bring the curriculum to life and offer personalized learning experiences in classes characterized by low student-to-teacher ratios, while also contributing to a dynamic school community through extracurricular involvement.

Catering to students from grades 5 to 12, Blyth Academy offers a comprehensive full-time program, a leading online school, as well as part-time, summer school, and private courses at boutique campuses throughout Ontario. Our community-focused schools feature a unique four-term structure, allowing students to benefit from small class sizes (averaging a 12:1 student-teacher ratio) and rich, experiential learning opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver Ontario curriculum subjects in your area of expertise, adhering to Ministry of Education standards.
- Employ diverse teaching methodologies tailored to accommodate each student's unique learning style and requirements.
- Assess student progress using varied and appropriate evaluation techniques, providing constructive feedback and regularly communicating results to parents.
- Foster a rich, experiential learning environment both in the classroom and throughout the school community.
- Collaborate with Blyth Academy administration, guidance counselors, parents, and other professionals to enhance learning and support student achievement.
- Engage in opportunities for professional growth as a school leader and administrator by participating in extracurricular activities and special projects.
Candidate Profile:
- A university degree in your area of specialization.
- OCT certification is an asset.
- Expertise in the subject matter of the curriculum, coupled with a passion for creating experiential learning opportunities.
- Previous experience teaching junior, intermediate, or secondary school students in accordance with Ontario Ministry of Education guidelines is preferred.
- Proven ability to cultivate an inclusive, positive learning environment and utilize differentiated teaching strategies effectively.
- An empathetic approach and a strong commitment to student success.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a dynamic school setting.
