GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY


Under the direction of the Contract Security Site Supervisor, the incumbent will assist with the general supervision and deployment of contract Security personnel.


A primary function of this role is to provide full and excellent operational support, insight and direction to the College's Security Control Centre.

This will include being the lead trainer for Communication Operators.

The incumbent will also provide a secondary function of administrative support and oversight by conducting various auditing processes in support of the College's Security Contract at the direction of the vendor and the Site Supervisor.

The expectation is that the person has superior knowledge of the whole operations within the Security Control Centre and not just be trained for basic coverage.

This person will be responsible for everything within the Security Control Centre.

Current students of Fanshawe College are not eligible to apply

NATURE AND SCOPE
The incumbent must be available to work all shifts.

The schedule will include two weeks of afternoons, and two weeks of nights (10-hour shifts ) and when necessary will provide backfill support for shift and vacation coverages.

During a settling in period the schedule will include 2 weeks of day shifts.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The position is responsible for:
Ø Ensuring the efficient and appropriate deployment and operational activities of members under their authority,

Ø Sharing after hours on call with Site Supervisor

Ø Responsible for day-to
- day operations of the Security Control Centre,

Ø Exceptional knowledge of policies and procedures of the Security Control Centre,

Ø Directing and briefing the staff on all departmental matters and procedures,

Ø Attending meetings as required by Fanshawe College

Ø Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, college policy, department directives, operating procedures, and applicable agreements,

Ø Ensuring the appropriate and responsible use of department resources and equipment,

Ø Determining operational priorities and reacting to all matters on an appropriate basis,

Ø Conducting performance reviews with subordinate staff,


Ø Providing a high level of leadership by providing necessary training, guidance and support to subordinate staff to ensure they are fully capable of performing their assigned duties.

Ø In the absence of the Site Supervisor, carry out operational responsibilities assigned to him/her.

Ø Assisting with interviews for potential staff

Ø Assisting with site risk assessments

Ø Assisting as needed in coaching and minor disciplinary measures with staff

Ø Performing related duties as assigned.

Ø Assuming the role of security or dispatcher as needed.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ø Canadian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Canada

Ø Demonstrated ability of user competency of security and life safety operating software systems as deployed in support of daily operations of the Security Control Centre

Ø Strong understanding and/or experience with emergency response communication protocols

Ø Certificate in Law Enforcement from a Community College or equivalent specialized training or work experience.

Ø Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.

Ø Possess a valid Ontario driver's licence and have accumulated no more than 6 demerit points.

Ø Minimum 12 months experience within the Campus Security Services Department and consistently positive performance evaluations

Ø Highly developed verbal and written communications skills

Ø Demonstrated leadership aptitude

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Have relevant supervisory experience

Ø Have formal police foundations education and training

Ø Have exemplary and proven customer service experience
