In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Equipment Reliability Program section of the Engineering Support Department is currently hiring for an Engineer / Engineering Trainee.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?

As a member of the team, you will report to the Section Manager, Engineering. This team is accountable for the engineering functions that enable high levels of performance in equipment reliability and directly support continuous improvement. The Engineer/Engineer Trainee is responsible for planning, evaluating, advising, or reporting on any activity which requires the application of engineering principles in the Bruce Power facilities.

Specific Responsibilities:

Provides technical evaluations, advice, and solutions to problems in several major work areas including in support of engineering change control, operation and maintenance of Bruce Power facilities.

Assists the Station Engineering Division by performing analysis and recommends solutions to support continuous improvement in equipment reliability.

Identifies adverse conditions as well as opportunities in their assigned functional areas and/or programs.

Prepares risk assessments for emergent conditions leveraging technical data and other supporting information and provides potential solutions including cost justification or financial evaluations as appropriate.

Keeps abreast of maintenance and operating issues related to their functional areas and takes action to implement solutions when appropriate.

Escalates concerns when work is not progressing according to program requirements, or when corrective action is required to address potential adverse conditions.

Works with internal and/or external organizations to support Station Engineering business needs, e.g. WANO/INPO, COG working groups, Maintenance, Operations and Work Management.

Keeps abreast industry best practices related to their functional area and incorporates changes as appropriate.

Ensures that documentation associated with their functional area is accurate and updated.

Provides input to and reviews modifications performed on equipment related to their functional area.

Participates in training programs to further own development and assists in the development of others.

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Requires advanced knowledge of processes, equipment and systems and their associated impact on safety, reliability, and performance.

Capable of identifying process improvements and taking initiative to lead change.

Strong verbal and written communication skills to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations.

Experience with problem solving, business case development, risk assessment and technical evaluations.

Requires the ability to proactively recognize and take action to manage risks.

Ability to work across disciplines.

Previous experience with reliability engineering or asset management is considered as an asset.

Familiarity with WANO/INPO performance monitoring is considered an asset.

Experience working with mechanical/electrical equipment or process systems is considered an asset.

Familiarity with ASME/CSA codes and standards pertaining to design and operation of a nuclear generating station is considered an asset.

Education and Experience:

Engineer (Occupation Code

Completion of a 4-year University degree in Engineering.

An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng).

A period of over 6 years, up to and including 8 years' experience is considered necessary to gain this experience.

Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code

Completion of a 4-year University degree in Engineering

Required to obtain a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification.

A period over 2 years, up to and including 4 years of experience is considered necessary.
