Canada's cement and concrete industry is taking a leadership role in the transition to a competitive net-zero future.

Last year, we launched Concrete Zero, Canada's cement and concrete industry's comprehensive and transparent action plan to achieve net-zero by 2050.

We are now seeking an awesome Policy Analyst to join the Industrial Decarbonization and Sustainability team to help turn our goals into reality.

As the most used building material in the world, concrete is the foundation of our lives. It builds our homes, schools, office buildings and hospitals. It's found in bridges, roads, electricity grids, and water infrastructure.

As a durable building material, concrete can help us withstand the worst impacts of climate change such as fires and floods.

Cement is the main component of concrete, and how we produce it will have a profound impact on both reducing emissions in Canada and around the world and building a sustainable future for all.

Reporting to the Vice President, Industrial Decarbonization and Sustainability, you will:

~ Support rigorous and leading approaches to carbon accounting by performing technical analysis (including data collection, spreadsheet creation, and calculations) and quality control to support emission measurements, comparisons, and reductions. The analysis will be on lower carbon cement and concrete products and will require an understanding of environmental product declarations (EPDs) and life-cycle assessments (LCA).
~ Lead the gathering and analysis of data and information related to tracking industry progress against our emission reduction targets.
~ Support economic and market analyses of the sector.
~ Support the cement industry in broad-based efforts to market and sell increasingly lower carbon cements via book and claim, offsets, or other models.
~ Identify emerging technologies and solutions, including when they will reach commercial availability.
~ Research and analyze specific policy issues and make recommendations based on reliable data and precedents.
~ Engage with industry and allies to advance the cement and concrete industry goals for industrial decarbonization.
~ Participate in strategic planning and priority setting for the Industrial Decarbonization and Sustainability team.


Have three to five (or more) years of work experience in a policy analyst or related role, and an educational and/or professional background in economics, engineering, or other related fields.

You are an analytical thinker grounded in research, analysis, data and how it translates into policy perspectives.
Demonstrated ability to write briefing notes, submissions, reports, and other policy-related products with rigour and commitment to accuracy.
You are comfortable collaborating with a team and with senior management to develop solutions.
Knowledge of essential computer tools such as the Microsoft Office suite.
Relevant work experience in the corporate, government or related association sector is an asset.
Ability to work in French is an asset.
