Summary:


The Fundraising and Community Development Director at Open Arms Mission of Welland serves as a dedicated ambassador for the organization, championing its goals and missions both during and after work hours.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Fundraising and Community Development Director will lead strategic fundraising initiatives, cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, and represent the organization in various community settings.

This position requires a proactive and passionate individual who is committed to advancing the organization's mission of providing assistance and support to individuals and families in need within the community.

As a Christian nonprofit, Open Arms Mission operates with values rooted in Christian principles of love, compassion, and service to others.


Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy Development and Implementation (25%):

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
  • Identify and pursue diverse revenue streams, including individual donations, corporate sponsorships, grants, and fundraising events.
  • Monitor fundraising trends and best practices to continuously refine and optimize strategies for maximum effectiveness.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship (20%):

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, businesses, churches, and community organizations.
  • Develop personalized cultivation plans to engage donors and nurture longterm partnerships.
  • Implement stewardship initiatives to express gratitude, provide impact updates, and recognize the generosity of donors.

Grant Writing and Management (15%):

  • Research grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources that align with the organization's programs and initiatives.
  • Oversee grant management processes, including reporting, compliance, and grantor relations.

Community Outreach and Engagement (20%):

  • Represent Open Arms Mission at community events, forums, and networking opportunities to raise awareness and visibility.
  • Foster strategic partnerships with local businesses, churches, schools, and service organizations to expand outreach and support.
  • Collaborate with volunteers and staff to organize community engagement activities, such as food drives, clothing donations, and educational workshops.

Event Planning and Execution (10%):

  • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns, including annual galas, charity auctions, and community fundraisers.
  • Coordinate all aspects of event logistics, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and marketing.
  • Recruit and mobilize volunteers to support event operations and maximize fundraising impact.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a general ambassador for Open Arms Mission, promoting its goals, missions, and impact within the community during work hours and beyond.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Director to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  • Source volunteers for projects and events, as approved by the Executive Director, to support the organization's initiatives and programs.
  • Create and implement an annual fundraising timeline, outlining key fundraising activities, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Prepare quarterly fundraising reports for the approval of the Executive Director, providing detailed analysis of fundraising performance, progress towards goals, and recommendations for improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic fundraising plans and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, staff, and community partners.
  • Proficiency in grant writing, donor database management, event planning, and fundraising software.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Open Arms Mission of Welland, with a passion for serving individuals and families in need within the community.
