The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) is a critical component in helping reach the desired outcome that Alberta is able to attract and retain a skilled, resilient and productive workforce.

The Program Advisor is required to ensure the AAIP can process the required number of applications to issue the annual certificate target. This position main functions are to determine basic AAIP eligibility on worker streams to ensure applications are complete and to screen for basic AAIP selection factors such as occupation, language ability, passport and work permit validity, employment verification, etc.

In your role as Program Advisor, you will be responsible to:

Potential Candidate Selection - Identify Candidates in the IRCC's EE portal based on the parameters (selection factors) provided to them by management. Notification of Interest (NOI) – issue an NOI letter from Alberta in IRCC's EE portal potential to candidates who meet Alberta's selection factors. Monitor the Notice of Interest (NOI) list for applications. For candidates who respond, send them information on how to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) package for the Alberta Express Entry Stream, including a list of all necessary documents and the EOI assessment criteria. Application Completeness – once applications have been received, ensure the applications accepted are complete. All of the required documents are included in the submission and the forms are signed as required. Eligibility – Screen for basic AAIP selection factors such as occupation, language ability, and passport and work permit validity. With regard to EE, identify whether or not the candidate meets the criteria of at least one of the three federal immigration programs. The three federal immigration programs are the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Request Additional Information – in situations where applications are incomplete, the applicant/representative is requested to provide the appropriate information within a defined timeline. Further follow-up may be required. Verification of Employment – Contacting employers to verify qualifying employment (this may consist of multiple employers) as well as current employers. This may require contacting employers in other countries. Communicate Decisions – Prepare and e-mail out correspondence notifying applicants regarding decisions on their applications. Document in database – input all decisions in applicable computer systems, including the AAIP CRM database. Review data entry fields to ensure accuracy. Operational Procedures Work closely with AAIP Program Officers to identify bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve processes by providing input to the AAIP Operations Managers. Provide input on worker stream application eligibility guidelines to ensure they are effective and efficient and meet the changing needs of the provincial economy.
