Reporting to the Director, Corporate Project Finance, the Manager, Corporate Project Finance is responsible for managing and overseeing the team of Project Financial Controllers which perform financial reporting for all projects within the corporate portfolio.

This role provides technical and functional advice to the Project Financial Controllers as well as general guidance to the Corporate Project Finance team's broad set of stakeholders at all management levels who provide input to project budgets (e.g., Project Managers, business owners of project-based resources, Financial Business Partners, etc.).


As a key element of the responsibility to manage and oversee the portfolio's financial budgeting, tracking, and reporting, the Manager, Corporate Project Finance will review and understand key corporate project financials and performance metrics prepared by the Project Financial Controllers to critically assess the reasonability of underlying assumptions and to identify financial trends and risks requiring mitigation or escalation for project or senior management action.


Under the leadership of Director, Corporate Project Finance, this role ensures appropriate management and delivery of enterprise projects and program financial accounting, analysis and reporting of budgets, forecasts and expenditures.

The Manager, Corporate Project Finance will review and provide quality assurance on specific corporate project budgets, but will also maintain a strategic, holistic financial view across the entire portfolio of projects.

This role will support the Director, Corporate Project Finance in identifying overall financial trends as well as interdependencies and inconsistencies assumed within project budgets across the portfolio to ensure optimization of WSIB's short and long-term investment decisions.


The Manager, Corporate Project Finance will also ensure integration and communication of post project financial implications contained in project cost and benefit analyses to operational business as well as Finance team counterparts so that they are accurately reflected in cluster operational budgets and forecasts in a timely manner that enables proactive planning.


This role will rely on extensive project reporting and financial accounting expertise to instill best practices in project accounting standards and to lead the team of Financial Controllers in delivering high quality project financial reporting across the portfolio accordingly.

The role will also rely on extensive financial analysis experience as well as a strong understanding of project and portfolio financial reporting to oversee a Portfolio Governance Reporting Lead in the development and execution of portfolio reporting, including financial tracking and reporting (e.g., variances, trends, actuals vs. forecasts, earned value management, etc.).

Major Responsibilities:

Project and Portfolio Financial Reporting

  • Either directly or through the team, supports project teams to develop, maintain and monitor project/program budgets to ensure accurate financial reporting as well as provides insights on project financial health to monitor for cost or resource over runs.
  • Ensures completion of program/project Cost and Benefit Analysis required for gating, enabling signoff by project Sponsors and impacted stakeholders.
  • Enhances the financial reporting used in presentation / briefings to project teams including project Sponsors, as well as reporting used for executive reviews, beyond current operational tasks and processes (e

enhanced analytics and financials with visualization properties).

  • Ensures month end activities are carried out efficiently by the team of Financial Project Controllers and financial results are accurately reported and understood, and project forecasts are completed with quality and accuracy.
  • Ensures partnership with Finance Business Partnering team on defining postproject operating costs impacts and enabling seamless handoff after project closeout.
  • Collaborate closely with EPMO governance and delivery teams to provide financial information and insights to be incorporated into project and portfolio health reporting.
  • Advise the Director on matters relating to their area of accountabilities.
  • Provides pertinent financial information and insights to counterparts within the Corporate Project Finance team to support the project finance challenge function.
  • Assist with the ongoing education and support to project stakeholders on processes, policies /guidelines, new technology platforms utilized (e.g. Power BI, SharePoint, ServiceNow PPM, Excel) and new reporting enhancements.
  • Provide key performance indicator management by monitoring to ensure projects are on track to meet their set goals to achieve their desired outcomes. Analyze financial data to evaluate the project's financial performance metrics.
