Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Centre for Probe Development and Commercialization (CPDC) Full time

Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development & Investments, the Manager, Business Development for CPDC will be responsible for leading and supporting initiatives in Business Development and Canadian Medical Isotope Ecosystem (CMIE) program management & delivery, and other projects to support the success of CPDC.

Driven by the desire to help turn scientific innovation in nuclear medicine into solutions that will make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, the Manager, Business Development must be goal oriented and show their ability to work in an independently and timely manner on assigned tasks, while working cooperatively with the entire team on overall corporate goals.

1) Business Development

  • Engage with a broad array of ecosystem partners to identify and develop opportunities between CPDC and existing and new stakeholders including technology transfer offices and academic institutions, incubators, accelerators, industry associations, and governments for CPDC and specific CMIE initiatives,
  • Contribute to due diligence related to the portfolio of new partnerships, licensing, and investment transactions,
  • Help to identify public and private sources of capital to support the needs of CPDC,
  • Lead or support Business Development efforts related to preparing grant funding proposals for CPDC initiatives,
  • Support the business development efforts related to PSMA-1007 Canadian site outreach and engagement,
  • Ensure consistent CPDC branding though website updates, drafting press releases, generate and post social media updates,
  • Maintain current knowledge of the radioisotope and nuclear industry, including new developments, publications, and trends, through literature, attending conferences and symposiums and news release searches, and
  • Contribute to the identification of emerging targets, companies, scientific innovations and areas of interest in the radiopharmaceuticals industry and communicate findings to senior management.
2) CMIE Program Management & Delivery

  • Support the strategic development and execution the Canadian Medical Isotope Ecosystem (CMIE) to ensure long term sustainability including regular, structured CMIE Executive and Ecosystem Advisory Committee meetings,
  • Assist in two Calls for Proposals for the CMIE Development Fund program in the next 12 months, including the preparation of documents and related materials for presentation to the CMIE Executive Committee,
  • For CMIEDF recipients, manage the tracking of project milestones and KPI's to report to ISED.
3) General Corporate & Other

  • Ensure good scientific practices and the highest Quality standards are adhered to for all activities,
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, procedures, and regulations at all times,
  • Other duties as assigned and agreed upon with the VP, BD & Investments from time to time.

The Manager, Business Development is an individual contributor that works in both an internal and external matrix environment to manage multiple programs and supports various collaborative groups that are in partnership with the organization.


BSc in organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field, coupled with a graduate degree (MSc, MBA, PhD) in business, innovation & entrepreneurship, biotechnology, radiochemistry or similar related field

  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in evaluation of technology commercialization and development and/or managing funding programs is considered an asset
  • Fluent in French and English is an asset
