What you'll do

The Space Planning Specialist is responsible for the creation, analysis and timely delivery of impactful and visually appealing Planograms and merchandising programs, which will drive sales, margins, enable efficient store operations and provide an exceptional in store customer experience. The Space Planning Specialist leads Category Business Managers, Category Business Analysts and other cross functional teams through planograms builds ensuring timelines and standards are adhered to while continuing to evolve ways of working through optimized processes.

Plan, prepare and execute meetings in support of the category merchandising line review process. Identifying space optimization opportunities, risks and challenges, opportunities for point-of-purchase and fixture requirements as well as ways to drive overall productivity. Project manage planogram builds for line reviews. The Space Planning Specialist will system build along with physically test and adjust planograms and perform quality checks prior to finalizing. This includes sample management, ensuring accurate item dimensions and images. Provide space recommendation changes to proto floorplans as needed. Demonstrate working knowledge of category merchandising strategies and priorities which will include conducting research, providing insights, and leveraging an understanding of the competitive landscape for appropriate Planograms, categories, brands and consumer trends. Ensure store testing and other category management support areas are organized and functional. Create relevant store execution communications. Prepare materials for various meetings and participate in the facilitation of meetings as needed. Work with stores to resolve inquires in a timely and professional manner.

What you bring

Post-secondary (diploma or degree) education in a similar and or a related field or equivalent work experience. Minimum 2 years of merchandising and visual presentation experience in retail, marketing, and/or advertising field. Strong team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities as well as effectively communicate across the organization. Self-starter who possesses solid communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to physically assemble floor fixtures (light to heavy weight). Proficient with MS Office suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of space management software such as Spaceman or JDA an asset. An understanding of Canadian Tire's merchandising practices and principles is an asset. Agile and innovative individuals, who can manage in an environment of change and ambiguity. Creative thinkers who take initiative and are capable of building, launching, and managing projects/programs that drive results. Problem solvers with the ability to analyze and prioritize to meet business objectives. Collaborative team players with superior influencing skills, who build relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward.
