The Role:

This pivotal role necessitates a full-time on-site presence with minimal travel requirements.

Reporting to the Regional Vice-President of Coach Canada, this position will oversee all facets of maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies while optimizing fleet efficiency and safety. The key responsibilities include developing, organizing, and executing maintenance strategies related to the procurement, servicing, maintenance, and repair of the Coach Canada Fleet.

In this capacity, your focus will be on maintaining current best practices while devising and implementing inventive strategies. Leading by example, you will guide personnel, allocate resources, and communicate regularly to fulfill Coach Canada's vehicle requirements and ensure seamless operations.

This role demands robust leadership, strategic planning, and technical proficiency to foster ongoing enhancements in maintenance processes and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance managers, supervisors, and technicians across multiple locations, offering direction, coaching, and assistance to achieve maintenance goals.
  • Cultivate a culture of safety, quality, and responsibility within the maintenance department, advocating compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Ensure that all vehicle-related functions and activities adhere to established laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate and review subordinate work assignments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
  • Develop and oversee maintenance budgets, guaranteeing efficient resource allocation and adherence to financial objectives.
  • Participate in crafting the preliminary annual budget for vehicle maintenance, repair, operation, servicing, and procurement functions; assess and scrutinize budgetary and financial information; manage and authorize expenditures within designated limits.
  • Provide periodic updates and reports to senior management on maintenance performance, obstacles, and endeavors.
  • Supervise off-site maintenance, repair, and recovery operations for roadside vehicle services.
  • Oversee the work of mechanics and other maintenance staff to confirm compliance with established guidelines and procedures.
  • Engage in negotiations and quoting processes; supervise the sale or disposal of used vehicles.
  • Consult with other departments regarding vehicle needs and challenges.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers listed in approved vendors list.
  • Establish and support procedures to improve employee occupational health, safety, and operational efficiencies within the Maintenance Department.
  • Ensure availability of necessary materials, specialized tools, and calibrated equipment for maintaining the Company's fleet.
  • Accountable for recruiting, hiring, conducting ongoing performance reviews, and maintaining the responsibility of Maintenance Department personnel. This may involve mentoring, guidance, and disciplinary actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years in a maintenance management role, with preference given to candidates with senior management experience.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage, oversee, and direct maintenance department activities.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking aptitude to establish and manage priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Proven sound judgment and decision-making skills to assess, monitor, and prioritize vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair assignments.
  • Experience in personnel supervision, performance assessment, and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Proven track record in fostering a safety-conscious culture and encouraging reporting of hazards.
  • Proficiency in delegation to manage various maintenance division tasks.
  • Valid license and appropriate training in fleet maintenance.
  • Commitment to promoting occupational health, safety, and continuous enhancement.
  • Proficient in vendor management, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Outstanding communication and leadership abilities to promote team unity and engage with regulatory bodies.
