POSITION OVERVIEW
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Retention Expansion Officer.

This position is responsible for developing and leading the business and retention program and working with local businesses to coordinate projects that promote business expansion in the City of Maple Ridge.

You will also connect external stakeholders with home based, medium and large business in the market and trade industry; provide research data and information on import, export, and expansion opportunities.


You will research data and related information on new business opportunities and programs and play a key role in initiating, developing, maintaining collaborative relationships with an internal and external diverse group of stakeholders.

You will also lead downtown revitalization initiatives.


You will assist prospective investors and other dignitaries in coordinating visits to the municipality or region; acts as a municipal liaison with local groups involved with economic development initiatives; and refers clients to Regional, Provincial and Federal programs designed to assist businesses.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline, plus sound related experience in statistical analysis and marketing, with some experience related to economic or business development, and preferably with an Economic Developer Certification (Ec. D.); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Considerable knowledge of the fundamentals involved in the preparation of business plans and business growth/marketing strategies.
Ability to research and analyze business documents, and draw conclusions on the strengths and opportunities of the business.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and to make presentations in a professional and tactful manner.
Ability to prepare and compile information, and to present research and statistical reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of external contacts.
Ability to catalogue, update and maintain data files.
Ability to manage projects to successful completion and to implement recommendations.
Ability to maintain complex systems and related documentation.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence in the Province of British Columbia.

HOURS OF WORK
Hours of work are governed by Schedule B (C, J) of the Collective Agreement
