SUMMARY
The Mechanical Assembler is responsible to all mechanical activities being performed on the shop floor at Cimcorp Automation Ltd. This involves the hands on assistance of the mechanical assembly of Murata Machinery equipment.

The Mechanical Assembler works closely with Project Managers, as well as both the software and engineering departments from the onset of a project to its installation.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the supervision of mechanical activities conducted on the production floor at Cimcorp Automation Ltd. This includes the delegation of work, facilitation, and hands on assistance of the mechanical build of equipment.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed on the shop floor at Cimcorp Automation Ltd. This involves ensuring the safe and proper storage of items, maintaining building and infrastructure, rectifying identified or potential hazards, as well as ensure the safety of all machinery and equipment.
  • Provide systems functional training and technical training to mechanical shop personnel as required.
  • Attend all engineering meetings regarding production process improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews and drawing reviews for projects. Ensure all mechanical shop personnel return as build and field modified revisions of mechanical drawings to the Engineering department for updates.
  • Forward all nonconforming drawings and/or documents to the supervisor and work with them to properly complete the ECR form to be submitted for review.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to mechanical shop personnel from a productivity and quality perspective. Ensure policies and procedures are followed and that breaks are taken accordingly.
  • Responsible for providing performancerelated feedback on the mechanical shop personnel to the Production Manager and recommend disciplinary action as needed.
  • Ensure all mechanical inventory parts are recorded in inventory.
  • Recommend new operating procedures within the mechanical area, or in conjunction with the Mechanical Assembly shop.
  • Participate in shop safety meetings and forward any safety concerns to the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • In the absence of the Production Manager, attend production meetings in order to establish job priorities and report production delays.
  • Report any parts and consumable shortages to the Purchasing department.
  • Ensure quality control procedures are followed and that proper documentation and filing is carried out.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information accessed in accordance with Cimcorp policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all Cimcorp health and safety policies, procedures, and responsibilities under the OHSA, are followed during all work activities at Cimcorp Automation Ltd.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


Licensed Tradesperson (Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in industrial automation or Post-secondary degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Advanced skills in the mechanical build of large automation equipment is necessary.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in the area of industrial automation with a commitment to stay up to date with current technology to position Cimcorp as an industry leader.
  • General knowledge of material handling systems, automation control systems and basic robot operations including mechanical electrical, software and conveyor systems.
  • Strong ability to read mechanical drawings, machine assembly and maintenance skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills with the ability to supervise and lead a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to make educated decisions quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to foresee obstacles, analyze problems, understand facts, and determine the root cause.
