  • POSITION OVERVIEW


The Specialist, Portfolio Risk will provide relevant and accurate analyses on overall risk trends in the different BDC's portfolios to Senior Management.

They will lead the development of new performance measures and ensure the current ones remain relevant. The incumbent will act as an expert of available data and actively support the development of new risk measures. They will ensure that internal clients receive the highest quality of information and recommendation.

  • CHALLENGES TO BE MET
  • In support of the director, Portfolio Risk
  • Integrated Risk Management, lead the regular monthly and quarterly reporting of the portfolio credit risk, ensuring key risk issues are raised to management
  • Identify and analyze historical trends, especially in regard to delinquency, downgrading to impairment, provisions on credit losses, pricing, risk mix and risk concentrations, etc.
  • Develop analyses and forecasts and provide recommendations to support senior management positioning strategies that are in line with BDC's tolerance for risk.
  • In support of the director, Portfolio Risk
  • Integrated Risk Management, coach and ensure knowledge development and quality of the work of the Analysts.
  • Lead the response to internal clients' ad hoc requests by using relevant data available and recommend improvements for enhancements to databases. Participate to special committees and to strategic initiatives/mandates.
  • Lead, in line with industry best practices, the development and continuous improvement of new risk analytics, new reports and risk dashboard.
  • Identify and develop means for extracting new data from the Bank's various systems required to monitor portfolio risk and support the ongoing enhancement of risk aggregation and analysis tools
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices, changes in BDC operations, product development and IT projects and recommend required changes to risk monitoring and reporting in order maintain an alignment with BDC's strategies
  • WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Graduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics (Master's, CFA and FRM are considered an asset years of relevant experience in financial institution (lending, risk management, sales support). Experience in risk management within the financial industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian banking market
  • Strong analytical skills and detailoriented
  • Ability to organize and collate data for management reporting purposes
  • Strong ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Initiative, creativity & ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Strong Knowledge of BDC operations
  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to effectively partner at all levels within the organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and PowerBI
  • Knowledge of databases structure and management such as SQL, SAS, R is an asset
  • Knowledge of statistical/numerical software such as Business Objects, Python, VBA is an asset
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English & French)
