Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician for the School of Arts and Sciences ( SAS ) in the Tischfield Lab.

The position will be the primary person conducting research for this grant.

Manages the mouse colony, general laboratory upkeep, assisting undergraduate trainees in experiments, and data assessment and figure preparation for grants/papers and conference meetings, related to the grant.

Provides professional level laboratory technical support duties involving the application of scientific research methods and techniques.

Performs multistage purifications, other assays, and tests; propagates non-animal specimens and cell cultures; prepares tissues, chemicals, and/or living subjects for testing.

May conduct breeding of small animals and performs related duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline.

A combination of two years college-level science curriculum plus two years relevant laboratory technician or research study experience carrying out research protocols and tests may be substituted for the degree.

An additional equivalent amount of college-level study in an appropriate science curriculum may be substituted for the experience in the above combination.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of scientific empirical procedures.
Must understand the fundamentals of the science.
Must read and understand technical documents.
Perform basic scientific routines, protocols, and tests.
Must Articulate data to researchers.
Ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats.
Previous laboratory research experience, including experience with mouse handling and animal surgeries.
Familiarity with confocal microscopy, preparing chemicals and solutions, and immunohistochemistry.
Experience in neuroscience or neurovascular related fields. Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and presentation, evidenced by publication in one or more scientific journals.

May require a valid driver's license, two years driving experience, and successful completion of the Rutgers? Confocal microscopes, animal surgical equipment, histology equipment, mouse colony software management.
