Position Summary:


In support of the mission, vision and values of Schulich School of Music's strategic plan, the Communication Coordinator oversees the coordination of internal and external communication and marketing activities at the Schulich School of Music.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, develops and maintains a multichannel content strategy to increase visibility of the Schulich School of Music both on and off campus.
  • Assists with the production of digital and print communication and marketing material, with the goal of promoting the Schulich School of Music events, community achievements and successes.
  • Oversees the Schulich School of Music's publications on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
  • Assists with the creation and optimization of paid media campaigns, digital ad collaborations with partner websites, as well as external advertising projects.
  • Coordinates work with photographers for photoshoots and photography of special events.
  • Oversees the creation and the distribution of newsletters, maintains public events calendar as well as the regular management of oncampus screens.
  • Supports other departments at the Schulich School of Music for publicity or communication requests.
  • Oversees the daily work of 23 work study students.
  • Maintains databases and prepares reports.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

Excellent communicator with strong writing and verbal skills. Energetic team player who is self-driven with a positive outlook.

A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and familiarity with current practices in marketing, communications and social media management.

Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to organize workflow, coordinate complex processes and competing deadlines.

Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, In Design, Canva and Microsoft Office Expertise in concert music and familiarity with the Montreal cultural scene.

Excellent ability to write and edit in English, proficiency in spoken and written French
