The ideal candidatewill excel at building relationships; supporting and partnering withfront line supervisors and operational staff to meet and exceed OSCO'sestablished safety standards.
The field safety coordinator mustfacilitate orientations and liaise with senior management andregulators, communicating potential hazards and helping to implementcontrols.Effective and persuasive communication skills are essentialfor success, as the Safety Coordinator needs to invest time tounderstand the trades and the type of work conducted within differentwork sites in our lines of business.
With a primary focus on our FieldOperations at project sites, the Safety Coordinator will need totravel regularly between site locations throughout the GTA andsouthwestern Ontario.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintainHealth & Safety training material, including facilitating safetyorientations and other Health & Safety trainingMaintain regularlyscheduled work site inspections to assist in identifying unsafeactions and/or conditionsInvestigate and provide timely reports of allincidents/accidents, determine immediate and root causes, recommendcorrective actions, and follow up to ensure resolution of identifiedissuesParticipate in and support monthly Joint Health & Safetymeetings and provide effective communication of safety information tomanagementWork with Field and Production Operations to update andmaintain the site health and safety manual, policies, andproceduresCreate/update site specific risk assessments, safe work, andemergency preparedness practices and proceduresSupport preventativemaintenance policy and proceduresReview the effectiveness of thehealth and safety management system and make suggestions forcontinuous improvement using established KPIs.
Manage data entry and maintenance ofsafety documentationSupport investigation testing measures (i.e.breathalyzer, urinalysis)Travel within Ontario is required, companyvehicle will be providedAdditional duties asassignedTechnical RequirementsThree to five years ofrelevant safety experience in a construction, manufacturingenvironment.
Strong understanding of applicable legislation,regulations, and standards to maintain complianceProfessional Safetydesignation (CSS, CSO, NHSA, NCSO, CRST, CRSP) would be considered anassetPost-secondary education or technical experience would beconsidered an asset
