We are looking for a highly driven, hands-on Senior Accountant who is comfortable working in a fast paced environment to join our team based in Hamilton.

The position offers significant responsibility, gives you ownership of construction projects and you are part of the decision making within the company.

Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (cash, prepaid expenses, loans/leases, fixed assets, construction in progress and deferred revenue).

Oversee AP accruals for unapproved AP at month-end close and liaise with project managers to identify and accrue project invoices not yet received.

Prepare financial analyses to review and validate monthly results.

Reconcile job costs for construction job between software systems to ensure transactions and data are being captured accurately; Work with project managers and operations to ensure job costs are captured correctly and remediate if not.

Accounts receivable and accounts payable
Oversee GL account coding and data entry.
Fixed assets
Oversee asset management including additions, disposals, and write-downs as necessary.
Maintain internal equipment costing rates in ERP to ensure accuracy for estimating and project costing.
Maintain asset continuity, depreciation, and reconciliation schedules.
Tax & Treasury
Maintain cash activity summary for cash planning purposes.
Assist with preparation of monthly cash flow projections.
Maintain equipment financing loan and capital lease schedules.
Prepare monthly income tax provision entries and month-end balance sheet reconciliation.

Using Excel and other software tools to develop reporting to aid in the analysis of job costing and job performance, KPI monitoring, equipment costing and other areas to increase efficiency.

6+ years of senior accounting experience in a Construction and/or real estate development environment
~ University or College Degree in Accounting or Finance, or CPA Desgination
~ Thorough knowledge of accounting and relevant government fillings
~ Ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a fast-paced office environment
~ Ability to analyze and understand large volumes of financial data
~ Strong organizational skills with proven efficiency to handle multiple projects at one time, both independently and in a team-based environment
~ Advance Level Proficiency with Microsoft Office
