The establishes the strategic direction and oversees the administration of Toronto Metropolitan University's scholarly, research and creative activity (SRC) enterprise, including grants administration, external funding, SRC policies, partnerships and collaborations, commercialization, and business development.

The Opportunity

We are hiring for an Intellectual Property Business Analyst to join our team. Under the direction of the Manager, Innovation and Commercialization, the Analyst will support the administration of new pilot programs linked to support provided by Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) to help increase commercialization activities from research institutions in Ontario. The Analysis and Ignition commercialization pilot programs are being established to help support researchers from TMU and partner organizations. This role will provide support throughout the entire program process, including providing marketing analysis and assessments, reviewing Intellectual Property, benchmarking against competitors, and summarizing results. The Analyst also assists with other commercialization activities with the university's researchers.
Qualifications

Completion of a post-secondary degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in business, intellectual property, technology development or a similar role, preferably in a post-secondary setting. Experience working with research and innovation ecosystems. Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), Google Workplace, as well as administrative, oral and written communication to prepare reports, organization and time management skills. Knowledge of office procedures and practices. Critical thinking and attention to detail in the initial review of agreements. Tact and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external clients in a professional manner.
