Petopia has been a leading dog daycare and boarding facility in Toronto for over 17 years.

We boost a large fully fenced dog park with artificial turf for our canine guests to play and exercise in during their visit.

When weather isn't ideal, dogs can still play in our 5000 sq ft indoor play area. We also accommodate overnight guests in our suites and are open 365 days a year

We are looking for an assistant manager who is available to work during the week and on some weekends.

As Assistant Daycare Manager your primary responsibilities will be to handle the business side of the daycare and oversee the daily operations.

You will interact with clients who bring their dogs in for daycare and boarding.

Duties of this job revolve around the care of the dogs in our facility and the overall organization of the staff and their duties.


Job Duties:

  • Ability to coordinate and operate Petopia in without supervision
  • Ensure all staff members maintain a clean facility at all times
  • Prepare staffing, maintenance and cleaning schedules on a daily and weekly basis
  • Create a friendly and welcoming environment for clients and ensure excellent customer service at all times
  • Admit and check out daycare and boarding clients
  • Provide facility tours and relevant information to new and/or existing clients
  • Answer phone inquiries and messages
  • Must be able to work closely with other staff, in a positive, practical manner;
  • Assist customers with standard account & client related requests.
  • Take photos of our canine guests and overseeing social media presence
  • Take client bookings with accuracy
  • Verify vaccinations, confirm reservations, schedule daycare/boarding details
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and retail products
  • Contact clients in case of emergencies and/or if additional information is required
  • Enter and maintain client information in the Kennel Connection software
  • Knowledgeable of Petopia policies and procedures to educate staff
  • Assist with customer service issues that arise
  • Maintain employee schedule and resolve immediate needs, conflicts and absences
  • Implement and continue new and ongoing training program of staff
  • Provide good leadership and communication with daycare staff
  • Administer oral medications and injections to dogs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Job requirements:

  • A true love and understanding of dogs
  • Be fit, active and have the ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • Be punctual, reliable, and on call in case of emergences
- customer service oriented and be able to work independently as well as in a team

  • Have at least 2 years of professional dog care experience in a group setting (owning a dog or taking care of family or friend's dogs is not professional experience).
  • Knowledge of different dog breeds, dog behaviour and basic dog training is required
  • Have at least 2 years of experience managing & motivating a team
  • Ability to conduct administrative work such as invoicing, filing, data entry, etc
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs and MS Excel
  • Fully proficient in the English language
  • Possess a valid G drivers license and have own vehicle
  • Post secondary education in Animal Care, Veterinary Tech, or any other specific dog training would be preferred

Shifts:

  • Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm
  • Weekends 8am to 2pm
  • Holidays may be required

Compensation and benefits:

  • From $17 to $19 per hour depending on experience after completion of training period
