The Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA) is an award-winning settlement

agency that has contributed to Greater Victoria's vibrant community for over fifty years.

ICA's services range from guiding immigrant entrepreneurs as they create small businesses

to supporting vulnerable newcomers to become confident, contributing members of our

community. In partnership with more than 500 community partners and generous donors

and volunteers, ICA serves as a helping hand, a listening ear, and a tireless advocate for

immigrants and refugees.

We are looking for a
part-time Settlement Worker in Schools (SWIS Worker) who will

provide settlement/resettlement integration services in schools to immigrants and refugees.

You are passionate about supporting our clients based on their individual needs and will use

your expertise to implement group programs and support their social and emotional needs.

You are a problem solver who can build working relationships within schools and school

districts to provide culturally sensitive solutions for our clients and their families.

What you will bring to the role:

  • A passion for helping others and a positive mindset
  • 2+ years' experience in a social service, notforprofit and/or multicultural
environment

  • Direct experience with settlement/resettlement service delivery and case
management

  • Knowledge of BC school system's regulations
  • Knowledge of barriers and community resources for persons with diverse cultural and
ethnic backgrounds, either through lived experience or work within the community

  • This position requires proof of WHMIS training, and clear criminal record check
(including vulnerable populations check)

  • Proficiency in a settlement/resettlement language (Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi,
Tagalog, Persian) required.

Additional assets we value:

  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline preferred, such as family law, immigration
and refugee studies, social work, intercultural studies, child and youth care or a

combination of education, training, and experience

  • Experience developing and facilitating workshops, including orientation workshops
  • Computer proficiency, including experience with client management databases
  • Multilingualism
  • Indigenous cultural competencies or lived experience with Indigenous communities

Compensation and hours:This position starts at $25.66 per hour, working 18.
