Role Summary


As the Ops Consultant, it is your responsibility for growing patch/market sales and guest counts profitably, and for ensuring all restaurants in your patch meet McDonald's critical guest standards of Quality, Service, and Cleanliness.


The Ops Consultant works with the Director of Operations to set their market targets with a growth mindset and creates a plan to achieve the targets.

The Ops Consultant doesn't work alone to meet market targets, they lead a team of General Managers responsible for each restaurant.

This means supporting the General Managers in setting their individual and restaurant targets, following up on their progress, and providing coaching and direction to improve their restaurants results.

By improving the General Manager, the restaurant improves.

The Ops Consultant is responsible for energizing their team and encouraging their General Managers to do the same.

This includes overseeing the hiring and development of each manager to ensure the restaurants have the right team to lead them into the future.


Suggested Skills, Learning & Development

  • A postsecondary education in the Business Management field and previous experience food service experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, and exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
As the Ops Consultant, communication is key to success. Weekly, you will have a touchpoint with each General Manager to review each Restaurant's strengths and opportunities.

It is important that all key restaurant information discussed is shared with your Restaurant teams during a weekly (or bi-weekly Team Meeting), during which each General Manager will share their top strengths and opportunities for their Restaurant, and where they need the teams support on a daily basis.

Identify and utilize the team's desired method of communication to ensure nothing is missed.

  • Inperson or virtual meetings

Business Results & Achievement

  • Establish business plan and targets with Operator and Director of Operations
  • Determine measurable targets that support the overall business, then support your General Managers to customize each Restaurant Scorecard as needed. Adding additional targets will add unnecessary complexity to the process.
  • Ensure all targets or updates are communicated effectively to the entire team.
  • Responsible for maintaining and controlling line items on monthly P&L statement in order to create a profitable sales growth.
  • Work through your General Managers to adjust the plan or tactics, as needed, to align with the business needs.

People & Talent Development

  • Demonstrate and reinforce leadership behaviors and basic people minimums to gain and grow commitment from all restaurant staff
  • Work with General Managers to ensure staffing tool is completed quarterly that ensures all restaurants are fully staffed to cultivate a people first culture that will maximize business results
  • Enforces and educates all restaurant employees on all employment policies, labour laws and safety & security procedures
  • Ensures there are active Individual Development Plan activities that that are designed to enhance strengths and improve performance gaps
  • Completes and presents performance reviews based on defined goals and objectives for each General Manager twice per year
  • Monitor and encourage a strong talent pipeline through active succession planning and strategic talent placement within restaurant teams to maximize business performance

Running Great Restaurants

  • Protects the McDonald's brand by ensuring restaurants meet McDonald's QSC and locally legislated Quality, Food Safety, Safety and Sanitation standards
  • Educates General Managers and Department Managers on critical restaurant systems that produce consistently high levels of QSC
Follow up on execution of new items launching and successful marketing campaigns

  • Ensures that restaurants properly execute national/regional promotions and coordinates implementation and execution of new products and processes consistently within their restaurants
  • Support visits completed as per PACE cycle expectations (or more often, as needed) to ensure all McDonald's standards are in place
  • Monthly restaurant support visits conducted; focused on key Business Plan pillars and improving underperforming restaurants
