In this role, you'll provide expert analysis, planning, and implementation guidance to ensure strategic objectives are met effectively.

Ministry of Health is responsible for administering the health care system and providing services to the Ontario public through such programs as health insurance, drug benefits, assistive devices, mental health and addictions, home care services, community and public health, health promotion and disease prevention.

The Health Insurance Branch plans, manages, and directs programs and policy related to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan including registration and eligibility for coverage, the Ontario health card, health benefits available outside of Ontario and outside of Canada, including prior approval for treatment outside Canada; The Branch is also responsible for the Integrated Community Health Services Centre program as outlined under the Integrated Community Health Services Centre Act.

Lead policy and program development in healthcare, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and best practices.

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis, including stakeholder consultations, to inform policy recommendations.
  • Prepare legislative documents, risk assessments, and guidelines, ensuring compliance and privacy considerations.
  • Monitor program performance, ensures accountability, and provides advice on related policy issues.
  • Manage program agreements, assessing impacts, and advising senior management on contentious issues.
  • Represent the unit at conferences and forums, lead working groups, and resolve stakeholder concerns.
  • Lead special projects, set priorities, and provide expertise to staff, ensuring effective implementation.
  • Support branch planning, coordinate information requests, and contribute to funding allocation processes.
You have experience providing leadership in program/policy, development, delivery and implementation.
Project Management Skills

  • You can lead projects from initial concept through completion within specific timelines.
  • You can provide project leadership and advice to an assigned team of analysts.
You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity implementation.

  • You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals.
  • You can interpret and apply policy, procedures and legislation.
You can work collaboratively to resolve issues, negotiate changes and shifts in priorities.

  • You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software.
  • You can create, lead and present briefings on complex issues analysis to senior management.
