The MCFN's Wellness & Wellbeing Adult Day Programs (ADPs) is a holistic approach to provide social, recreational and therapeutic activities for the elderly and individuals with a disability, in a safe and supervised environment.

The Adult Day Respite Worker will provide primary caregivers of disabled or ill clients temporary respite from their duties. Their responsibilities include supervising activities, the Adult Day Programs, assisting with personal hygiene, and occasionally accompany clients on outings.

Thursday, July 27th, 2023 at 12:00pm.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Self-Identify as First Nations, Metis, or Inuit
  • Strong oral/written communication skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Personal Support Worker or equivalent (unlicensed RN/RPN)
  • Experience in supervising and assisting clients as well as engaging them in suitable activities
  • CPR and First Aid
  • Anishinaabe culture, The Seven Grandfather Teachings
  • Crafts, painting, drum making
  • Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Familiar with the Home and Community Care legislation and the Long Term Care Act
- have good interpersonal skills

  • Must be able to work independently and willing to contribute to a team environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and management
  • Ability to relate effectively to community members
  • Must have a satisfactory result from a Criminal Record Check including a vulnerable sector check
  • Current First Aid-Certification/Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation training
  • Valid driver's license and access to a dependable vehicle
  • Flexibility in work location
  • The ability to schedule base on individual client needs
  • Knowledge and work experience in the field of Geriatric nursing, specifically with those affected by Alzheimer Disease or a related disorder
  • Dementia training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches in Dementia Care (GPA), U-First, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively with and without supervision
  • Accurate written communication skills to document client's medical status
