Job Description

The Systems Engineering Technologist will support Systems Engineering in the development of Naval projects. These projects involve communication and control systems, including RF, digital, network, and analog subsystems. The role involves ensuring that project work adheres to budget, schedule, risk management, and quality standards. Tasks include integration, configuration, troubleshooting, verification, and validation of subsystems. Work will generally be conducted at customer premises, primarily Vancouver Shipyards.

Responsibilities

  • Execute, monitor, and control project work according to the integrated master schedule.
  • Maintain control of integration tools, test equipment, and work area.
  • Assist in preparing electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Read engineering documents, schematics, and technical orders to identify faults and troubleshooting methods.
  • Implement and execute system test cases, analyze and evaluate test results.
  • Troubleshoot systems that do not meet requirements.
  • Identify installation risks and prepare mitigation strategies.
  • Inspect parts for defects.
  • Interact with customer technical and nontechnical personnel.
  • Work independently and in a team environment.
Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a systems engineering environment, preferably in the Naval or Shipbuilding industry.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings and technical documents.
  • Handson experience in troubleshooting, integration, configuration, testing, cabling, network, and electronics systems.
  • Experience using common electrical test equipment (e.g., DMM, Oscilloscope).
  • Proficiency with common hand and electrical tools.
  • Positive attitude, detailoriented, committed to professional development, and an active listener.
  • Ability to thrive in both team environments and independently.
Wor Hours: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, starting at 6:30 am, 5 days per week

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience in electronics systems, RF, networking systems, and using specialized test equipment.
  • Knowledge of shock and vibration, EMC/EMI, drawing standards, and industry design standards.
  • Experience with various operating systems and technical software such as Labview.

Education:

  • College diploma in a Technical Program or equivalent relevant experience.
