Role Specifics
Clients include public agencies (municipalities), private developers of residential and commercial lands, First Nation clients and engineers.

More specifically, the position will involve carrying out the following duties;

  • Conducting natural environmental field investigations/data collection;
  • Evaluations of biophysical site conditions;
  • Conducting detailed review of land use history;
  • Preparing field reports, project reports and proposals;
  • Supporting species at risk surveys and permitting;
  • Conducting stream assessments and providing recommendations regarding stream channel design potential impacts,
  • Assisting with Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA);
  • Assisting with natural heritage studies and permitting advisory services for our public sector, private sector and First Nation clients;
  • Preparing and authoring field reports, project reports and proposals;
  • Providing support for senior environmental professionals and engineers; and,
  • Other duties as required.

Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

The following qualifications, experience and skills are required:

  • Degree in University or College Degree/Diploma program in Ecology or similar (completed degree/diploma is an asset)
  • Knowledge of Southern Ontario Fisheries and Regulating Policy (Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Act)
  • Experience with ESC Inspection and working with contractors
  • All fisheries related certifications (OSAP, Fish ID, OBBN, CISEC, etc.)
  • A good understanding and related consulting experience with fish and fish habitat
  • Proven technical writing skills with the ability to maintain records and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills are required as well as an aptitude for client liaison
  • Be comfortable and feel safe working in and around water, outside and in all weather conditions
  • Have computer design skills in AutoCAD
  • Have a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Outlook
  • Have a strong determination to set and manage priorities to meet all deadlines
