**The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club (GMAC) is seeking a Part Time Masters Swim Coach**. GMAC is a Not for Profit swim club with over 1100 registered swimmers across our Lessons, Pre-Competitive, Competitive, and Masters programs.

The GMAC Masters group is a mid-sized masters swim group. We currently have a community of 60+ active members who strive to uphold the Masters’ philosophy of fun, friendship, and fitness for life, with a handful who are interested in competing. Our active members are typically aged 20 and above and come from a variety of backgrounds - from novice swimmers to former age group and varsity athletes, as well as some triathletes.

The Masters Coach will report directly to the Director of Age Group & Development and work collaboratively to assist, identify and navigate athletes through their progress and goals. This position will consist of practice planning for the Masters program as a whole and on-deck coaching.

**Position Summary**:

- Arrange and implement comprehensive workouts and adapt to those in groups
- Attendance at swim meets may be requested dependent on the interest of participants
- On deck coaching: 4 days/week averaging 9 to 11 hours per week, including prep time

**Compensation**:

- Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
- Reimbursement for professional development, with prior approval available

**Masters Swim Coach Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and execute well-rounded, technically focused workouts;
- Listen to swimmers’ needs and provide stroke and technique corrections;
- Assist swimmers who require modifications to workouts;
- Help swimmers prepare for competition, should they be interested.
- Available to coach in the mornings, evenings, and weekends throughout the year (September - mid June and off at Christmas)
- Create a fun, welcoming and inviting learning environment to encourage growth and retention
- Work directly with the Director of Age Group & Development to further develop & implement an annual comprehensive swimming strategy that identifies the best technical training program
- Work to mentor junior coaches and accept mentorship for your own development
- Establish a positive professional relationship with Masters swimmers, coaches, and the community
- Communicate to Masters swimmers as needed through proper channels
- Engage in learning; continuing education through CSCA, NCCP development, etc
- Adhere to all policies including GMAC, Swim Ontario, Swimming Canada, and all facilities where we participate

**Qualifications/Requirements**:

- Minimum NCCP Fundamentals Coach Certified (Swimming 101)
- Minimum 2 years coaching with varying level of athletes in Canada (if have this and no 101, will train for 101)
- Strong leadership
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Problem Solver
- Enthusiastic
- Willingness for continual education
- Has knowledge and experience in technical and training aspects of competitive swimming
- Ability to communicate with swimmers and staff in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must pass all appropriate background checks and complete Safe Sport training
- Computer savvy (utilization of workout software for tracking)

**Job Types**: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 10 months

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 11 per week
