What You'll be Doing:
Analyze and interpret current and upcoming federal and provincial vehicle safety and environmental regulations to ensure ongoing compliance Manage product liability incidents including technical inspections and responses, and liaise with government organizations regarding product liability and safety Assure quality and consistency of Field Action communications to regulators, dealers, customers, media (i.e. Safety Recall Campaigns, Limited Service Campaigns and Warranty Extension Programs) Execute factoryrequested Pre-Delivery Confirmations on vehicles in logistics pipeline Communicate clearly and effectively with product quality, manufacturing, and engineering groups and with regulators to identify and resolve product issues Oversee the stoppage of vehicle logistics pipeline to conduct factoryrequested confirmations and minimize the hold duration and impact to TCI Oversee the preparation and submission of safety and emissionsrelated defect and compliance reporting Manage the relationship with Transport Canada's Defect Investigations, Recalls Administration, and Compliance Enforcement groups and respond to all concerns and inquiries in a timely manner Maintain dialogue with TCI departments including Regulatory Affairs, PQSS, Legal, CR, Accessories, Sales, Sales and Inventory Planning, Product Planning and Toyota University Maintain a database of applicable vehicle safety regulations/investigations Manage SMART system database Review technical field reports for publication to TMC's global quality database Chair Semi Annual Meetings with Transport Canada Acquire ongoing knowledge of latest vehicle technology, regulations, and methods for accident investigation
Work Efficiency_ Initiate and implement appropriate Kaizen (continuous improvement) efforts which result in work efficiencies relating to cost reduction or avoidance and improved time and process efficiencies Maintain department SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and measure performance against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Standardize and share successes across the team and organization through Yokoten (best practice sharing) Ensure corporate communications are cascaded appropriately Focus on resource planning activities and enhance departmental efficiencies (e.g. cost savings and process improvements)
Management_ Align team goals with TCI vision & hoshin priorities, establish checkpoints to support progress toward deadlines, coach team members on revising/pivoting to drive successful project completion Drive learning & development through timely, candid guidance/feedback, seek opportunities for project work that align with team member growth opportunities and career goals Communicate and prioritize project/task responsibilities of direct reports, provide guidance, feedback, and accountability for individual performance Communicate corporate messages providing appropriate context in a timely manner Lead team members to foster collaboration, understanding, support & Kaizen (continuous improvement) Initiate and implement appropriate Kaizen efforts which results in work efficiencies relating to cost reduction or avoidance, improved time and process efficiencies

*Please note: this role requires flexibility of working hours, and includes travel*What You'll Bring:
  • University degree in Engineering (B.A.Sc. or B.Eng.), specifically in mechanical or electrical discipline
  • P.Eng. designation is preferred; Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) with a strong technical background is preferred
  • 7+ years of experience within the automotive industry, and strong knowledge of vehicle technology and safety systems
  • Ability to manage a highly technical team involved with critical investigations and information
  • Strong leadership skills; ability to coach and mentor others
  • Excellent relationship building skills to foster and maintain key relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
