Under close supervision, learns the principles of the risk control process and gains the skills to perform risk assessments through instruction and participating in on-the-job training for a specified period of time, supporting commercial mid-market business with a focus on manufacturing and construction risks

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:_
  • Develops a working knowledge of basic insurance principles, risk control techniques, practices and procedures.
  • Acquires skills to identify risk exposures and emerging trends, and analyze losses.
  • Develops an understanding of how to avoid, minimize and manage risk exposures.
  • Participates in and conducts risk assessments for least complex risk assignments for new and renewal business.
  • Conducts onsite risk control assessments to support risk selection for underwriting process.
  • Participates in and develops reports for use internally and externally utilizing risk control and other CNA systems.
  • Develops customer correspondence to confirm onsite risk assessments and corresponding recommendations or business solutions to minimize identified risk exposures.
  • Makes field visits with underwriters or Senior Risk Control staff to brokers to build relationships and gain better understanding of their relationship with CNA as part of the independent agency insurance process.
  • Performs responsibilities consistently, dependably and accurately.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

  • Strong desire to develop knowledge and understanding of risk control principles and practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive business relationships.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Ability to learn rapidly and adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective decisionmaking skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other businessrelated software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Successful completion of required exams and/or certifications
