***: The Support worker provides the women and children with safety and support offering crisis intervention when required, makes appropriate referrals to community agencies such as hospitals, police, Ministry of Child & Family Services if support services are needed. Support worker maintains the security of the building and its residents by making rounds throughout the shift, checking mechanical and maintenance rooms for problems. Cleaning duties are an essential responsibility of the support worker. The support worker must have good communication skills, both oral and writing, a valid First Aide certificate, be able to work as part of a team, and independently.

REPORTS TO:
Spirit Lodge Program Supervisor

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Ensure the safety of residents, property and employees of SPIRIT LODGE
  • To patrol and monitor property against theft and vandalism
  • Ensure all window screens in units are secure
  • Follow safety procedures if any emergency alarm sounds
  • To monitor access of entries on the video camera
  • To review daily footage from video camera
  • To report all safety concerns to Residence/Program Supervisor
  • Crisis assessment and ability to followup
  • Work in conjunction with police and other emergency response teams
  • To maintain nightly log, including incident reports
  • Organize food bank check expiry dates
  • Sanitize Rooms and prep for next client(s)

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a related position preferred, ideally in a community based setting.
  • Post-Secondary or equivalent
  • Preferences will be given to _
    FIRST NATION'S WOMEN _as per _
    SECTION 41 OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS CODE
