Job Requirements:
In this role, MATRIX is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for an upcoming earthworks project. You will bring experience operating a D8, 325 excavator, 450 excavator and 30 ton rock trucks. This is a FIFO position, located in a remote camp in the beautiful north-west region of British Columbia.

We are seeking a team oriented, motivated individual who has a high attention for details, accuracy and can prioritize tasks.

You will play a key role at one of our remote exploration camps by performing all primary responsibilities in a timely manner independently.

This position reports to the General Foreman.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment in a safe manner according OH & S policies.
  • Trenching, ditching, backfilling, stock piling, grooming, and subgrading.
  • Conduct preoperational checks on equipment and machinery prior to daily usage.
  • Assess the status the CAT and enact repairs, source parts and order parts and materials as needed
  • Mathematical aptitude and ability to calculate project needs for efficient use of machinery.
  • Proficient with operational regulations as it relates to worksite.
  • Assist building drill pads, maintain the trails and miscellaneous work as needed around camp
  • Assist in the completion of all necessary documentation as per process/protocol to ensure cost effectiveness and budget allocation.
  • Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Participate in daily Toolbox meetings and support monthly worksite inspections.
  • Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
  • Notify Camp Construction Manager of unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
  • Actively participate as a high performing, team member
Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years HEO experience in _high elevation & steep slope environments_.
  • Organizational and problemsolving abilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, teamoriented individual with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work a rotation schedule
  • 2 weeks on 2 weeks Off
  • Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Able to maintain a high level of performance over a hour shift.
