As part of the People and Culture team, the Vice President of Health and Safety is a senior executive responsible for overseeing and implementing strategies to ensure the well- being and safety of employees within an organization. Leading the development and enforcement of health and safety policies, procedures, and programs to mitigate risks and promote a safe working environment. The Vice President of Health and Safety collaborates with departments across the organization to integrate safety protocols into all aspects of operations and provides company-wide leadership

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing health and safety construction, services, and manufacturing on a national scale
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage annual health and safety plans based on needs
  • Keep abreast of legislation, amendments, and best practices in occupational health and safety.
  • Advise all levels of the company on health and safety matters and legislative requirements.
  • Represent the company in health and safety matters with government agencies and associations.
  • Ensure timely resolution of health and safety
  • Provide guidance to senior management on health and safety
  • Manage workers' compensation issues and liaise with relevant
  • Conduct thorough accident investigations and follow up on corrective
  • Oversee occupational compensation files and return-to-work
  • Train and coach health and safety
  • Conduct performance reviews for direct reports and hold quarterly performance review meetings with division managers.
  • Oversee internal and external health and safety audits, as well as inspections, investigations, and compliance
  • Responsible for management of health and safety budget, planning and development.
  • Provide leadership and support to business development and senior management from a subject mater expert
  • Develop programs to enhance performance across operating units/divisions.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, construction management, engineering, or a related Advanced degrees such as a master's in occupational health and safety or a relevant MBA would be considered an asset.
  • Extensive experience in construction health and safety management is required, including several years of progressively responsible roles in health and safety, ideally within the construction
  • Relevant certifications in occupational health and safety, like CRSP, CHSP, or CHSC, are highly valuable
  • Strong familiarity with Canadian health and safety regulations and standards, including those specific to the construction industry (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations) is
  • Extensive experience managing teams, setting strategic direction, and fostering a culture of safety within an
  • Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying safety protocols, leading training sessions, and interacting with employees, regulators, and other
  • Familiarity with safety management software (ie: Noggin), data analytics tools, and other relevant technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in managing construction health and safety.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and adapting policies accordingly, constantly evolving, and staying informed about emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in safety technology is
