Waste Control Service (WCS) is a private, locally owned and operated recycling and waste management company offering solutions for sustainable management of all things waste.

We offer collection services and consultation for both residential communities as well as commercial, industrial, and institutional organizations exclusively in the Greater Vancouver region.

We have a head office and shop in Coquitlam B.C. and two recycling yards in North Vancouver where we sort recycling we collect from our customers.

Who we are looking for:


Our team is growing, and we are seeking for an individual passionate about the environment to work out of our Coquitlam facility.

As the Controller you have overall responsibility for all Finance and Accounting activities in a multi company environment.

As a member of the Leadership Team, which directs the strategic direction of the company, you will be the finance member who provides your perspective based on your many years of experience.

You lead a team of three other member of the Accounting Department.

This is a full-time position that will appeal to an individual with a Canadian CPA designation with many years of financial leadership experience in a private company setting.


Responsibilities:

  • Direct and advise on strategic planning and growth of company.
  • Support all aspects of financial planning, operational reporting, ad hoc financial/business analysis, and funding analysis.
  • Support and lead the other members of the Accounting Department.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements.
  • Drive the preparation and finalization of the annual operating, capital, and cash budgets.
  • Ensure accounting deadlines and cutoff schedule are adhered to.
  • Primary CRA liaison.
  • Primary external accountant liaison.
  • Primary banking liaison.
  • Primary business insurance liaison.
  • Responsible for cash management activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be Successful:

  • CPA designation.
  • Proven leadership experience and the ability to develop and manage a highperforming team.
  • Ability to work with and support leaders and members of other departments.
  • Comfortable in the board room and on the shop floor.
  • Although the Accounting Department team members are responsible for daytoday transaction processing, a hands approach is required for some functions as well as an understanding of your team members' activities.
