Overview of the role:


Reporting directly to the VP Network Planning & Engineering, the Manager Operations Planning and Control plays the quarterback role for the efficient planning of volume fluctuations on short, medium and long term ripple effects on the operations; contingency planning, network variations, staffing and station capacity.


The other key component is the construction and operationalization of a control tower to monitor the entire distribution network to ensure a seamless consumer experience and proactively address any preventable or unpreventable challenges.

We see this role as a center piece of our ability to build an industry leading operational team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain an operations control tower to ensure endtoend visibility on volume processed daily by providing status and location of all parcels;
  • Build and maintain an alert and communication system to address ontime, late and critical volume;
  • Lead the analysis of parcels out of our SLA thresholds to identify root causes;
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to identify and implement solutions to root causes;
  • Plan volume variations and assess impacts on first, middle and last mile operations;
  • Create prebuilt contingency plans with clear RACI to ensure seamless transitions from daytoday operations to SWAT teams;
  • Initiate and participate in "war room" preparedness sessions and business continuity meetings;
  • Assemble the Planning and Control team to ensure industry leading standards are met and exceeded;
  • Participate actively in the S&OP process with Sales, Revenue Management, Network and Operations teams;
  • Develop business rules for hubs, linehaul and stations to optimize cost performance while maintaining high service levels;
  • Visit delivery stations and sortation hubs frequently to ensure comprehension of the operations and get buy in from operations team on key initiatives;
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement teams by identifying key initiatives and measuring success;
  • Report status and progress through strategic KPI's and reporting sessions to operations management team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in business administration (Operations Management, Supply Chain) or Industrial Engineering;
  • Graduate degree in Management, Supply Chain or Engineering;
  • Certification in data management/analysis is an important asset;
  • 5+ years in Supply Chain, Demand Planning, S&OP, Logistics;
  • Expert level in Excel and high proficiency with PowerBI;
  • Detail oriented and strong ability to keep people accountable;
  • Strong leadership presence with ability to vision set and manage through influence;
